THE ZINE LAB
Launching this Summer | Theme: Caribbean Girlhood
A zine is a small, self-published booklet but in the hands of a Caribbean girl, it becomes something far greater. It becomes a declaration: I exist. I matter. I have something to say.
Through the Zine Lab, participants will:
• Find and amplify their voice through guided writing and storytelling
• Create original art using collage, photography, and mixed media
• Self-publish their very own zine a tangible, lasting piece of work that is entirely theirs
• Connect with their Caribbean identity through creativity, community, and shared expression
In the Caribbean, handmade publications have long been a way of sharing knowledge, culture, and resistance. The Zine Lab carries that tradition forward, giving girls the tools to tell their own stories, in their own words, on their own terms.
Bloom Where You’re Planted: Zine Lab, This summer, Island Girls Rock is launching The Zine Lab, a 14-day creative program in Nevis where girls explore writing, collage, photography, and self-publishing, all centred around this year's theme: Caribbean Girlhood.
We can’t do it alone. But together, we can make sure that the girls create something unforgettable this year.
