ZINE LAB 2025

Island Girls Rock has always been a labour of love. We are a nonprofit, we are a community. Our programmes run all year long and are free to attend because we believe creativity, healing, and self-expression shouldn’t come with a price tag. But the truth is, these programs do carry real costs.

Right now, we are raising £2,750 GBP/$3700 USD to help cover the costs of our latest initiative, our Zine Lab.

What is a Zine? A zine is a small, self-published booklet created outside of traditional publishing. In the Caribbean, zines carry forward our long history of sharing knowledge and creativity in handmade, accessible ways — from pamphlets circulated in villages to notebooks filled with poems, drawings, and songs. Each zine is a vessel for voice and vision, crafted with care and often produced in limited numbers.

What will raised funds be used for?

• Materials and supplies (including workshop venue)

• Meals for participants

• Printing and production of the zines

• Artist facilitation and mentorship

If you believe in making space for girls to tell their stories, if you believe in the importance of nurturing Caribbean girlhood with care, creativity, and intention, we would love your support.

No amount is too small; and if you can’t give right now, please consider sharing this campaign:

Bloom Where You’re Planted: Zine Lab 2025, is our 14 day creative program in Nevis that gives our girls space to express themselves through writing, collage, photography, and self-publishing their very own zines, centred on the theme: Caribbean Girlhood.

Zines are handmade booklets, but they’re also declarations: I exist. I matter. I have something to say.

Originally planned for summer, we are now running the program from October  through November (on consecutive Saturdays) , giving us more time to raise the funding required and to accommodate the girls who will be attending.

We can’t do it alone. But together, we can make sure that the girls create something unforgettable this year.
