Terysia Herbert - Director
Terysia is the Executive Director of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS). Before stepping into this role, she served as Education and Prevention Officer at the Ministry of Health, where she focused on HIV and STD prevention. Initially raised in Nevis, Terysia migrated to the United States as a teenager, spending nearly two decades in New York before returning home in 2020. During her time in New York, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science from Fordham University and a Master of Public Health in Community Health Education from CUNY Hunter College. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Urban Planning with a concentration in Urban Design at Jackson State University.
Before returning to Nevis, Terysia worked as a Research Coordinator and Program Manager at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.
This experience deepened her passion for the advancement of Caribbean culture, community health, and advocacy. With a diverse range of interests including community health and heritage tourism, Terysia's overarching passion lies in the advancement of Caribbean people and culture. Beyond her professional achievements, Terysia is a proud mother of two.
