Laura West
Well Being Co Ordinator
Laura is a proud British-born Kittitian and citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis, whose life’s work is rooted deeply in service to her Caribbean community. With an academic foundation in Caribbean history (BA Hons) and psychology (MSc, pending PhD), Laura brings a powerful blend of cultural insight, psychological knowledge, and lived experience to her role as a Caribbean-focused counsellor and business coach.
Driven by a deep commitment to women’s wellness and empowerment, Laura is also a postgraduate researcher exploring the intersections of Caribbean spirituality and female sexuality - work that challenges colonial narratives and honours the lived experience of Caribbean women. She is also the co-founder and CEO of Liamuiga Women’s Health, a non-profit organisation devoted to tackling health inequities and improving outcomes for women across the Caribbean diaspora. Community is the heartbeat of everything that Laura does. Her multidisciplinary expertise spans psychology, history, spirituality, and research, all of which inform her specialised focus on Caribbean behavioural health.
This unique lens allows her to address wellness through both a culturally rooted and academically rigorous perspective. As Well-being Lead for Island Girls Rock, Laura offers free and discounted health and wellness services to members through Liamuiga Women’s Health, while also curating new initiatives that uplift and support Caribbean women. Her involvement with Island Girls Rock began by seeking connection and offering support to Chantal (the founder), eventually extending that care to the wider Island Girls Rock community.
Her journey is a living example of what happens when women show up for each other. *“When women support each other, incredible things can happen.”* *- Unknown*
