Design Geek Studios
Jobella is a Barbadian Graphic Designer and Multimedia Artist based in Toronto. With a lifelong passion for art and creativity, she pursued a certification in Graphic Design from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2016, following her graduation from the University of the West Indies.
In 2018, she took a leap of faith and founded Design Geek Studios, expanding her creative boundaries. This journey has enabled her to seamlessly blend traditional and digital techniques in her work. Jobella’s portfolio and expertise now span murals, branding, social media design, portraits, art classes, and more.
Her artistic journey reflects dedication, resilience, and continuous growth. Inspired by the strong community that supported her dreams, she takes great pride in the roots that have shaped her.
Her current collection celebrates the beauty of natural hair, honoring its diverse textures and styles. Inspired by the Tignon Law, the series serves as a love letter to her ancestors and the community who paved the way for her to have the privilege of expressing herself through her art. It pays tribute to those who endured systemic oppression yet chose beauty, creativity, and quiet defiance in the face of suppression.
