Annalise Smith
Annalise Smith is a Bahamian born and based in Nassau, Bahamas whose craft has been cultured from a tender age. Annalise’s work traverses themes of her Bahamian culture, nature, and imaginative explorations of everyday life. Her work is seen to be immersive and driven by well-thought out narratives, utilizing acrylics, color pencils, and alcoholic markers as her mediums. Annalise draws her viewers into an experience of intrigue, nostalgia, and pure bliss through her vibrant, painterly style.
Annalise has displayed her work in exhibitions at Incubator for Collaborative Expression (I.C.E.) and Doongalik Studios. In 2022, Annalise won first place in the BCRC Caribbean and the Bahamas’ Department of Environmental Planning and Protection’s “Mercury in the Bahamas” art competition. During that same year, she also won second place in the Bahamas PHA’s Glaucoma Awareness Poster Competition. Her four years experience at Summer Art Immersion, a program for young artists, allowed her to cultivate her skills even further. Due to this opportunity, in 2022, Annalise’s work has been featured in the local newspaper and she received Best Artist in 2023 for her painting called “Out of Mind”.
Annalise is currently studying for her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of the Bahamas, continuing to expand her creativity and discovering approaches that will shape her new pieces.
