The Love Letters - Dear Golda by Gairey Collins

My dearest Golda,

It was your eyes that caught my eyes,

so that's where I'll begin,

And not because of how beautiful they were,

but for what they held within.

The windows to your soul, though curtains drawn, notwithstanding very thin.

Dancing silhouettes of notions, plans, thoughts and ‘could have beens’.

And then you spoke, and when you spoke,

I say if word is wind...

The hurricane of twang that gust; the gales were made to sing.

Oh why can't you be great my love?

Won't your anchor let you glide?

Then lose the kedge and shine my love,

you've got way too much inside.

yours truly
